Software QA & Test Engineering Internship, Applications Engineering (Fall 2023)

What to Expect

Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around August/September and continue through December/January. Internships are in-person for 40 hours a week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Please consider before submitting an application.
 
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week. Many students will be limited to part-time depending on their academic standing.

About the Team(s)

Tesla is seeking students who are natural problem solvers and have a passion for innovation and quality. Interns in QA & Test will work with multiple engineering teams across the company while still maintaining autonomy in independent projects. Our QA and Test engineers lie at the intersection of development and launch, playing a critical role in the design, development, and support of Tesla products.


What You’ll Do

  • Applications Engineering: We are currently looking for interns to help architect, build, manage and operate the Infrastructure & applications for Tesla’s Engineering teams including Connected Systems, Firmware and Autopilot. In this role, you will plan, design, implement as well as manage ongoing Infrastructure components that powers the development of Tesla’s Vehicles and technologies.

  • Business Ops & Infrastructure: The Infrastructure Engineering team designs and implements a diverse set of services and tools that power our internal software and processes. The projects you support will have a significant impact on the business and will allow us to grow at Ludicrous speeds!


What You’ll Bring

  • Currently working towards a BS, MS, or advanced degree in a relevant engineering program such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
  • Familiarity in a major programming language such as C/C++, Python, Rust, or Java, and strong scripting skills in at least one common language (Perl, Ruby, Bash, etc.).
  • Nice to haves for Apps and Vehicle Software: experience with Docker, Jenkins, Selenium 
  • Nice to have for Chassis System: strong physics, thermal, or mechanical functions, embedded data acquisition tools (National Instruments, Kvaser, PEAK-System), understanding of revision control software.
  • Good grasp of QA and Testing methodology and automation.
  • Demonstrate strong understanding of testing concepts including white box and black box testing, regression testing, performance testing, etc.
