Global Compliance Intern (36527)

Position Summary

As a Global Compliance Intern, you will assist the team to implement and maintain the company’s Compliance plan of global STERIS locations. Your work will identify and address risks that matter to the organization. Key Internship Information:
•   Paid Internship
•   Currently looking for an intern that is available to start in September and stay on through December. 
•   Part Time with a minimum of 20 hours per week.
•   Location - This will be a blended onsite and work from home opportunity. 
 

What will you do as a Global Compliance Intern?

•   Under the guidance and supervision of experienced STERIS Compliance Associates, duties and responsibilities include:
Assist with initiating, developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure the company’s rules and regulations are adequately communicated to all employees
•   Assist with coordinating and completing the conflict minerals reporting process ensuring regulatory agencies and our Customers that STERIS’s supply chain of certain minerals is both transparent and ethical.
•   Assist with engaging our supply chain to ensure that labor practices throughout the entity are transparent, free of coercion, and meet global legal and ethical standards.
•   Assist with the process to ensure that transfers of value to healthcare professionals in both the US and internationally are properly accounted for and reported in a timely manner
•   Assist with the promotion of the Code of Business Conduct and the AdvaMed Code of Ethics
 

What will you do as a Global Compliance Intern

•   Assist with the review, analysis, and maintenance of records of STERIS’s international dealers and distributors to ensure that all anti-bribery and anti-corruption rules and regulations are being followed. 
•   Assist with the rollout, tracking and follow-up communications related to various compliance trainings
•   Assist with various data privacy projects and tasks, including but not limited to data mapping exercises, data protection impact assessments and data rights requests.
•   Develop a working understanding of the STERIS Code of Business Conduct as well as the following rules and regulations (among others):
o   AdvaMed Code of Conduct
o   The Conflict Minerals Rule
o   Data Protection and Privacy
o   US Physicians Payment Sunshine Act
o   The Foreign Corrupt Practices Act
o   The UK Bribery Act
o   The UK Modern Slavery Act (2015)
 

Education Degree

What Skills, Experience and Education will you need?

•   Currently enrolled in a four-year undergraduate degree program or a master’s program in one of the following competencies: Accounting, Legal, Governance Risk and Compliance, Data Privacy, Cybersecurity, Finance, Marketing, and completed sophomore year
•   Minimum of 20 hours/week availability. 
•   Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
•   Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
•   Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
•   Leadership experience in extra-curricular activities – Preferred
•   Familiarity with General Data Protection Regulation and other data privacy regulations, Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, Dodd Frank (Conflict Minerals) and their applicability in an compliance environment
•   Commitment to integrity and ability to maintain confidentiality
•   Strong attention to detail
