Clinical Research Assistant - Post-stroke Fatigue

Palo Alto Veterans Institute for Research (PAVIR) supports the nation's second largest research program conducted among the VA Hospitals and is looking for a part-time Research Assistant who will support Principal Investigator, Dr. Janice Kishi Chow. The Research Assistant will assist the principal investigator with participant recruitment, data collection, data management, and data analysis for a qualitative study exploring the experiences of post-stroke fatigue. information.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES OF A RESEARCH ASSISTANT
  • Assist with participant recruitment, including advertising, answering email/phone inquiries, screening, logging participants in, and scheduling interviews.
  • Assist with data collection, including obtaining consent, interviewing participants, and scheduling member-check interviews.
  • Assist with data management, including transcribing interviews and storing data on VA secure drive.
  • Assist with data analysis, including coding at various levels of theory development.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Required: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience;
  • 0-1 years of experience in a research environment;
  • Preferred: A bachelor's degree in biology, psychology, sociology, or related field;
  • 2+ years of related experience in a health care setting or research environment; Experience working with Veterans is a plus;
  • Knowledge and experience with qualitative data management and analysis;
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Teams (meetings and transcription)
  • Proficiency with Word and Excel;
  • Organizational/management skills;
  • Ability to interact professionally with clinical team members and research participants;
  • Ability to uphold participant privacy and confidentiality at all stages of research and data management;
  • Excellent communication and writing skills;
  • Capable of working independently;
  • Openness to feedback and direction.
