General:
The ideal candidate will be a Hands-on owner of SMT / Assembly process and be passionate about making the process truly world class.
Desired Experience and Working knowledge:
Experience with SMT, BGA and Component Assembly processes.
Working knowledge and familiarity with following equipment and process,

  • Screen Printing and Solder Paste Inspection (SPI)
  • SMT Pick-n-Place, Reflow and Cleaning
  • Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) and X-Ray
  • Automated testing and debug (identifying failure nets etc.)
  • Selective Soldering / Laser Soldering
  • SMT QA testing – Solderability, Wetting, Shear test, Pull test, adhesion testing, etc.
  • SMT repair skills – Solder shorts/opens, Via opens, Conductive epoxy, Spot weld, local lamination etc.
  • BGA – Flux print, Ball drop and Solder Ball Place
  • Others skills: Conformal Coating, Epoxy dispense / bonding / encapsulation, Lamination,

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate new product development and conduct sustaining engineering functions.
  • Will support process and manufacturing with SOPs, WIs, Quality requirements / Aid, SPC, training and safety.
  • Provide leadership, mentor and train technicians on SMT process for high level of workmanship
  • Will rigorously work towards Zero defect, Eliminating root cause issues with a methodical approach.
  • Actively participate as a team in continuous improvement and support development with R&D team.
  • Ability to spec tools and design fixtures to support process and manufacturing for future requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3-year previous work experience in a manufacturing/process engineering position.
  • Strong understanding of raw materials and specifications SMT and Assembly process
  • Ability to work in a high pace environment.
  • Education: Minimum degree in related Engineering discipline.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Organized and committed to continuous improvement.
  • Will occasionally stand, walk, sit, and can carry or lift to 25 lbs.
  • Knowledge of CAD, Gerber Viewer, Solid Works, and related software will be additional plus.

The pay range for this role in Baldwin Park, CA is between $78,700 and $103,300.  The pay range may differ in other locations. FormFactor maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.  Benefits offered for this role include: medical, dental, vision, EAP, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending and savings accounts, 401(k), ESPP and paid time off.
