SNY Technical Operations Internship Fall 2023

Job Description
The Tech Ops Internship is intended to provide a student hands-on experience in multi-platform technical areas in Broadcast Operations. The candidate will be assisting Tech Managers and Technicians in the daily operations of the studio/control room environments. Job duties and responsibilities include:
  • Assist in accomplishing the responsibilities of “on-air” technical operations.
  • Observe and learn specific duties connected to various types of equipment systems.
  • Shadow staff and freelance employees as they operate those various systems.
  • Learn to support and perform other daily related duties at SNY as needed.

Qualifications
  • Currently a Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree majoring in Media or Television Production, final semester preferred (for Summer placements, candidate should be a rising Senior).
  • A self-motivated individual with a passion for broadcasting, who is capable of multitasking and functioning in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Solid verbal communication skills.
  • Strong aptitude and hands-on experience in broadcast equipment systems and problem-solving.
  • Desire to learn new digital technologies.
  • Experience with non-linear newsroom systems a plus.
  • Position requires working some nights and weekends and minimum of 16 hours per week, with flexibility in scheduling a must
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship by SNY.

Additional Information
Hourly rate: $15/hr
