Stewards VISTA: Continental Divide Trail Coalition - Community Engagement Coordinator

The CDTC Gateway Designation Program is at a critical juncture where there are more communities desiring status and less capacity to support their needs in becoming designated communities. This main goal of the OSMRE/VISTA program and partnership will be to address the capacity gap and support communities trail wide and support Gateway Community Ambassadors and local chambers to increase resources available to the public. The VISTA will work on tourism initiatives to redefine the identity of the communities as recreation destinations, rather than towns defined by mining or other extractive activities. This includes supporting the CDT Advisory Committees made of town officials, agency partners, and community members. The position would support trail-wide needs in development of information resources for all users in both print and web formats, and specific community web pages to provide visitors information about the Communities themselves. The position would serve as a liaison with the local US Forest Service and BLM Offices to address CDT concerns, and would work closely on various outreach and education efforts to engage local youth in the CDT Community. Finally, this position would serve as the eyes and ears for the National offices to ensure a close unit system of communication and partnership is maintained with the CDT Community in and around the trail in general.

Member Duties:
-         This position will raise awareness of the Continental Divide Trail by assisting with community outreach, supporting the CDT Gateway Community program, and developing trail information and marketing materials for dissemination to the public.
-         The Community Engagement Coordinator will also provide administrative support to CDTC’s outreach, education, Gateway Community, and communications needs, and represent CDTC at community events along the trail. This includes helping to plan and execute events specific to the 20 CDT Gateway Communities along the trail.
-         The Community Engagement Coordinator will also assist with the recruitment and management of several CDTC volunteers and will help develop and manage a schedule of training and connection opportunities for our community network.
-         The Community Engagement Coordinator will also assist in writing and submitting grant proposals to support various CDTC programs.
