This position is exempt from WV Division of Personnel Rules (At will employee).
Nature of Work:
This position involves assisting the WVCA Education and Outreach Specialist in fabricating and
constructing the West Virginia Soil Tunnel Trailer II, as well as providing assistance with in-
person outreach and education events, curriculum and outreach materials design (including
graphic arts, photography, and video editing). The role heavily involves art and fabrication, such
as carving foam using heated carving tools, cutting, assembling, and painting. Other related
duties may also be assigned. Examples of art can be found on the WVCA website.

Work Environment:
This position combines an office, project build shop, on location and workshop environment.
Extensive travel with mobile education unit is possible with overnight stays. Work requires
acute attention to detail and ability to work under pressure of deadlines.
Examples of Work Performed:
• Assists with the fabrication of the WV Soil Tunnel Trailer II.
• Assist with field days and other educational events.
• Assists with developing and implementation of conservation presentations and
training materials that can be used in a variety of settings.
• Develops brochures, signs, and other forms of communications to promote outreach
programs and build awareness for sustainability goals using Canva, Adobe Creative
Cloud.



Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• The position requires a candidate with artistic abilities.
• Ability to assist with conservation education programs as a team member and/or
individually.
• Ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team working on joint and separate
projects.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, employees,
and the public.
• Knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment.
• Knowledge of soil and water conservation.
• Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud computer programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
Training (Education): Qualified candidates may be a recent high school graduate that have
been accepted to an accredited college or university in education, arts, biology, agriculture,
natural resource management, environmental science, soil science, agronomy, agriculture
business and marketing, or related natural resource field or currently enrolled in one of the
previously mentioned degree areas. Candidates that have recently graduated from an
accredited college or university in agriculture, natural resource management, environmental
science, soil science, agronomy, or other related natural resource field may also be
considered.
Additional Requirements:
• Dependable transportation required.
• Flexibility in schedule to travel.
• Physical ability to lift and maneuver 40 lbs.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Pre-employment law enforcement background investigation.
• Valid driver’s license.
