Sexuality Educator - Youth Council Facilitator at Annex Teen Clinic

The Annex Teen Clinic is the industry leader in sexual health and education for young people through the age of 25. JOB SUMMARY: The Sexuality Educator – Youth Council Facilitator will recruit and train BIPOC youth leaders between the ages of 18-21 to serve on the Annex Advisory Leadership Council to provide culturally responsive and youth-centered sexual health education to youth in our service area. This position will provide fact-based sexuality education, facilitation of and public speaking for youth development programs with various populations including in middle and high school students and professionals. Settings include schools, community organizations, parent groups, faith communities, and more.
 
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Facilitate fact-based sexuality education programs for young people on such topics as contraception, sexually transmitted infections, healthy relationships, sexual orientation and gender identity, effective communication, and various other sexuality topics.
  • Collect and enter program data in a timely manner to write and submit monthly reports and other reports as needed.
  • Recruit BIPOC youth leaders between the ages of 18-21 to serve on council and provide education programming.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations, schools, and Annex educators to deliver high quality programming.
  • Participate in professional meetings and work groups, both internally and externally; build strategic coalitions; and build and strengthen professional relationships to strengthen & provide structure for current & future programming.
  • Engage in professional development to grow skills and knowledge around human sexuality, youth development, and facilitating sexuality education programs.
  • Serve as an expert referral source for young people, parents/caregivers, educators, and social service providers.
  • Must be able to work effectively in a mission-driven agency whose clients and staff exhibit significant diversity with respect to race, ethnicity, gender identity and expression, socio-economic status, ability, nationality, and religion.
REQUIRED QUALIFICAITONS:
Education and Experience:
  • A college degree in education, youth development, human services, or related field; and two years of experience working with adolescents preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated experience providing fact-based sexuality education preferred.
  • Experience recruiting and running engaging youth groups preferred.
  • Experience planning, organizing, coordinating and staffing for promotional efforts at community events and health fairs preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Skilled in planning, prioritizing, and monitoring of work plans and other administrative tasks with supervisor and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, and changing priorities.
  • Public speaking, facilitation and writing skills.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed, outgoing, organized, and excited to work on a team.
  • Skilled at engaging and building relationships with youth, parents, and community members.
  • Must be flexible; some evening and weekend hours are required.
  • Passionate about sexuality education and working with young people from diverse communities.

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Valid driver’s license, access to reliable transportation, and the ability to meet Annex Teen Clinic’s driving record requirements. Please note that if the license was not issued in the state of Minnesota, you have 60 days after becoming a Minnesota resident in which to apply for your Minnesota driver's license or permit (not applicable for new hires living out of state and working remotely).
COVID-19 Protocols: Annex Teen Clinic strongly encourages employees to receive the COVID-19 vaccine and does not require any employee to be vaccinated. When Annex Teen Clinic work locations are not in areas identified as high community transmission for flu and/or COVID-19, employees are not required to wear a mask while working. We will monitor updates on community transmission rates for both flu and COVID-19 and update our guidelines as necessary.
