Electric Transportation Student Engineer

Plug-in electric vehicles arrived on the US market in December 2010 and automakers are launching more each month. The utility industry and its stakeholders need to better understand how these vehicles are being used, including vehicle performance, customer use, and charging behavior to help guide the type and timing of grid upgrades as well as the formation and operation of cost-effective customer programs.

EPRI has a team of Electric Transportation experts with a variety of industry, educational, and technical experience. This intern would focus on data analytics to support PEV research such as PEV performance, charging, total cost of ownership, PEV readiness, infrastructure amount and placement, PEV customer preference surveys, etc. as well as general utility support. This person is not only intellectually sharp, but works extremely well with others of all backgrounds and personalities and can be trained to directly interface with utility members and other PEV stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

This position will perform various data analyses as well as other technical work as directed in support of electric transportation. Duties and responsibilities consist of:

  • Conducting research
  • Developing and refining models
  • Analyzing outputs
  • Writing papers and various other functions related to electric transportation
  • Ad hoc utility support may be required
