Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) - Skilled Nursing Unit - Restorative Care

Near the Spartanburg Medical Center Church Street campus is the Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care (SHRC), a 97-bed long-term, acute-care hospital with a 25-bed skilled nursing facility.

Position Summary
The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), under the direction of a Registered Nurse, provides direct age-specific care to selected patients ranging in age from early adult to late adult and performs selected activities utilizing the Resident Assessment Instrument and the Nursing Process based on delegation by the Registered Nurse. When a Registered Nurse is not scheduled on the Skilled Unit, The LPN acts as the charge nurse under the supervision of the Nursing Coordinator or the Registered Nurse on call.
 
Minimum Requirements
Education 
  • Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing program 
Experience 
  • New or Novice  
License/Registration/Certifications 
  • Current and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in South Carolina 
  • Current BLS Certification

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Successfully completes hospital and unit-based orientation programs. 
  • Collaborates with patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team to determine patient priorities and treatments. 
  • Demonstrates ability to function as the charge nurse by assigning and directing activities of personnel based on staff capabilities and patient/unit needs.
  • Seeks necessary assistance in completing nursing interventions to assure positive patient outcomes.
  • Participates in hourly rounding and bedside shift report.
  • Responsible for demonstrating competencies for all new equipment and procedures.
  • Ensures compliance with all clinical expectations regarding regulatory requirements.
  • Identifies appropriate standards of care, and/or collaborative clinical pathways to guide the plan of care.
  • Performs patient care responsibilities related to needs specific to the standards of care for patient’s age and documents care appropriately.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of patient and patient’s clinical condition.
  • Complies with established policies and procedures.
  • Documents all aspects of patient care by following established charting procedure to show the patient’s progress or any change in the patient’s condition.
