Business Operations Intern, Security Engineering (Spring 2023)

What to Expect
Disclaimer: This position is expected to start around January or February 2024 and continue through the entire Spring term (i.e. through May 2024) or into Spring/Summer 2024 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships. Please consider before submitting an application.
International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

About the Team
Tesla Security Engineering is responsible for the lifecycle of physical security systems that protect Tesla’s people, places, and intellectual property. We develop relationships with internal partners, design and build security systems, grow the security program with industry suppliers and integration partners to perform work, and provide support for business operations after construction is complete.

What You’ll Do
In this internship, you’ll be directly involved in the business life cycle of security design, procurement, installation, and quality assurance. The opportunities are wide-reaching, such as supporting improvements to the business operations of security engineering, developing research projects on compliance and emergency response, or helping to design new solutions that may be implemented across hundreds of offices.
  • Develop skills and direct experience of the business operations of a globally distributed team, and strategies for effective management of accounting, ordering, scheduling and prioritization.
  • Gain experience in communicating effectively and persuasively with different audiences (customers, direct labor staff, regional management, executives).
  • Support daily administrative tasks.
  • Practice international project coordination through business operations support of installation and service projects across borders
  • Gain experience in the philosophy and design of security mitigations for the protection of staff, facilities, and intellectual property.
What You’ll Bring
  • Currently working towards a undergraduate or graduate degree in security, system engineering, information security, software engineering, project management, business administration, economics or related field.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office 365 apps or software development tool sets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Previous experience working with security or security systems is helpful but not required.
