If so, we want to hear from you! We have a rare opportunity for a talented Packaging Engineer to work in our Southern Logistics Center in Atlanta.
 
The Package Engineer, Global Distribution & Logistics will be part of an evolving, globally diverse company that's moving fast to craft the future of aviation. Pratt and Whitney, Division of United Technologies, is a world leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power units. At the Southern Logistics Center, you will work with our third-party logistics team and other P&W Packaging Engineers to safely ship jet engine spare parts, kits and assemblies to our commercial and military customers.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with P&W third party logistics supplier to ensure compliance with all Military and Commercial packaging contract requirements
  • Update SAP special pack instructions for commercial and military parts
  • Work with Packaging Engineering Team to write/revise internal packaging and material handling procedures and training materials for P&W worldwide; work with Packaging Engineering Team to write/revise supplier base packaging requirements
  • Provide packaging support for parts suppliers and internal manufacturing centers; create and / update engineered container and container assembly designs using AutoCAD
  • Participate in part damage investigations and work in a team environment to determine root cause and corrective action; work with the P&W packaging team to provide our third-party logistics partner with clear packaging requirements for all parts and assemblies
  • Provide technical support for the management and sourcing of SLC packaging materials; support reusable container and kitting initiatives
 
Basic Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering or physical sciences and minimum 5 years prior experience in an aerospace, engineering, manufacturing or technical environment or a Master’s degree and minimum 3 years’ experience in an aerospace, engineering or manufacturing or technical environment
  • 2 or more years of packaging experience in a packaging environment
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
 
Preferred Qualifications:

  • A degree in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science preferred
  • AutoCAD education/experience
  • Ability to read engineering drawings
  • 1 or more years of experience with package design, parts distribution, warehousing, and transportation preferred
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to run multiple independent projects at a time

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.
 
Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
