IT/Networking Xtern - The Ultimate Internship Experience

 
 
IT NETWORKING INTERNSHIPS 
The Indiana Digital Innovation Economy seeks passionate students to work as IT/Networking Interns in the summer of 2024. In this role you will work alongside experienced practitioners to actively contribute to meaningful projects and  gain valuable experience.  This is an opportunity to apply the knowledge you’ve learned in the classroom and develop the skills you’ll need for the next step in your career. 
 
WORK AT A RAPIDLY-GROWING TECH COMPANY  
The Xtern program places you with a high-growth tech company for a 10-week, full time, paid internship over the summer. Xtern finalists will interview with two-to-five potential tech companies for their internship on November 17th, 2023. 
 
SKILLS ON THE JOB (in no particular order): 
  • Tech Support Infrastructure: Uses components of commonly used computer hardware, software, applications, etc.; diagnoses customer problems; and provides troubleshooting and issue resolution support. 
  • Critical & Analytical Thinking: Using logical thought processes to analyze information and draw conclusions.  
  • IT/Hardware: Assembles, configures, installs; maintains, and repairs computer and device hardware and IT systems. 
  • Core Operating Systems: Demonstrates familiarity with the use of multiple operating systems (e.g., Apple, Microsoft, Android, Linux) for computer and mobile devices and installs, configures, and maintains at least one of those operating systems. 
  • Problem Solving/Decision Making: Generating, evaluating, and implementing solutions to problems. 
  • Software Applications: Installs, configures, and maintains a wide variety of software applications. 
  • Communication: Listening, speaking, and signaling so others can understand using a variety of methods, including hearing, speech, American Sign Language, instant messaging, text-to-speech devices, etc. 
  • General Networking Tools and Concepts: Provides network support with commonly used tools/devices, including: routers, switches, wireless, ethernet cabling, and firewalls; manages IP addresses and runs cabling. 
  • General Information Security: Installs, configures, troubleshoots, tests, and maintains in a secure manner the portion of the IT environment under their responsibility (networks, communication, hardware, software, and other devices) to ensure confidentiality, integrity, and availability. 
  • Written communication: Using standard business English to compile information and prepare written documents on paper, computers, or adaptive devices. 
  • Coding Languages: Familiar with common coding languages such as Java, .NET, JavaScript or HTML/DHTML 

REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Must be 18 years of age or older 
  • Must be enrolled in college
