Intern Program:
The paid Summer Internship Program is an opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a full-time BNSF employee. As an intern at BNSF, you’ll be given real-life, impactful assignments that will put your skills and education into practice. Your summer project will combine classroom experience and real-life business situations to provide value-added work to BNSF. The program is designed to identify students who will be hired by BNSF as full-time Management Trainees after they graduate. During your summer internship, you will get the chance to network with peers, our Business Resource Groups, and Senior Leaders throughout the BNSF network.

Corporate Audit Services (CAS) provides independent, objective assurance, risk identification and mitigation, and consulting activities designed to add value and improve the BNSF community. CAS performs its duties by attracting a talented, diverse staff. CAS provides a rich and broad development opportunity for individuals looking to understand how BNSF works from BNSF leadership, throughout the life cycle of operations, technology, and finance aspects. Our work covers all areas of BNSF’s corporate governance including how our underlying values, standards, processes and risks shape our business operations, decisions and ultimately the performance of the company. Our auditors have the opportunity to work across the company on a range of topics of company significance and can expect to interact with various leaders including senior leaders in BNSF.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Gather, analyze, and document complex information.
Examine evidence obtained during audits with respect to compliance with policies, adequacy of procedures and effectiveness of controls.
SOX testing, control environment testing, and special projects.
Assist in testing based on audit objectives.
Document evidence of testing in audit workpapers.
Develop and maintain effective communication and rapport with team and customers
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Primarily an office environment, occasional travel required.
- Normal office hours, Monday through Friday, with weekend or evening work as required.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT:
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Authorization to work in the US without Company sponsorship now AND in the future.
- Able and willing to relocate to Fort Worth, Texas for the summer.
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree from an accredited university, and will complete degree no earlier than Fall 2024, Spring 2025, Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Fall 2026.
- Have or anticipate to have at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA with a degree in Engineering OR a 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA with a non-Engineering degree.
- Have four (4) years or less of professional work experience, EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held pursuing a degree in high school and/or college.
- Able to work out of the Fort Worth office (with potential of being 50% hybrid).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Software Engineering, Business, Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, OR a similar degree program.
