Intern Program:
The paid Summer Internship Program is an opportunity to experience what it’s like to be a full-time BNSF employee. As an intern at BNSF, you’ll be given real-life, impactful assignments that will put your skills and education into practice. Your summer project will combine classroom experience and real-life business situations to provide value-added work to BNSF. The program is designed to identify students who will be hired by BNSF as full-time Management Trainees after they graduate. During your summer internship, you will get the chance to network with peers, our Business Resource Groups, and Senior Leaders throughout the BNSF network.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Groups that Interns may be placed into include:
Payroll Services – oversees time-to-gross-to-net pay processing for all employees, including but not limited to analysis of labor contracts, employment tax reporting and compliance, and data analysis focused on identifying process improvements.
Revenue Management – oversees the customer order to cash process for freight and related charges, including but not limited to creation of the shipping instructions, the assessment of charges, managing accruals and payments associated with the shipment, the collection of invoices, and the application of cash upon receipt of payment.
Technology Management – deliver technical solutions to improve process controls and efficiency, including but not limited to computer application development and maintenance, reporting & data visualization, and project management
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, internal and external reporting, account reconciliations, contract research, maintaining and securing highly sensitive and confidential information, assisting in testing system changes and enhancements, ad-hoc requests, maintaining and building strong customer, employee, and business partner relationships through issue resolution and continuous improvement while maintaining business integrity.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primarily an office environment, occasional travel required.
Normal office hours, Monday through Friday, with weekend or evening work as required.
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENT:
Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Authorization to work in the US without Company sponsorship now AND in the future.
- Able and willing to relocate to Topeka, Kansas for the summer.
- Pursuing a Bachelors or Graduate degree from an accredited university, and will complete degree no earlier than Fall 2024, Spring 2025, Fall 2025, Spring 2026, or Fall 2026.
- Have or anticipate to have at least a 2.50 cumulative GPA with a degree in Engineering OR a 2.75 or higher cumulative GPA with a non-engineering degree.
- Have four (4) years or less of professional work experience, EXCLUDING internships, part-time jobs, or positions held pursuing a degree in high school and/or college.
- Able to work out of the Topeka office (with potential of being 50% hybrid).
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Pursuing a degree in Accounting, Economics, Management Information Systems, Finance OR a similar degree program with a minor in Accounting.
- Have your Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license or have the Intention to pursue CPA.
