Clinical Operations Director

Position: Clinical Director

Location: Cullowhee, NC

Organization Description:  Vecinos is a non-profit, 501(c)3 Free Clinic that provides bilingual integrated primary and behavioral health care, mobile clinic services, health education, and case management to uninsured, low-income adults in the far-western NC counties. We offer a positive, supportive, and team-oriented atmosphere. We work in a non-traditional environment with limited resources. Schedules and hours vary throughout the year.


 

Purpose:  The Clinical Operations Director serves as a vital member of the Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Chief Operations Officer. In this capacity, they collaborate closely with the Leadership Team and Medical Directors to provide oversight for integrated clinical and behavioral health services. The primary objective of this role is to make well-informed, strategic, and efficient decisions to advance the organization and clinic's mission of delivering high-quality healthcare services.


 

Job Responsibilities

 

  1. Clinical Leadership and Strategic Development
  • Leverage Clinical Experience: Utilize your clinical experience to collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer in developing, managing, and implementing strategic clinical plans and programs that are culturally aligned and promote high-quality patient care.
  • Community Collaborations: Actively seek and nurture community collaborations and partnerships that align with the organization's mission, enhancing healthcare access while respecting the cultural nuances of Vecinos' patient population.
  • Clinical Policy and Procedure Compliance: Create and ensure compliance with clinical policies and procedures, contributing to patient safety and quality of care.
  • Clinical Performance Metrics: Collaborate with the Chief Operations Officer to set and achieve clinical performance metrics that consider cultural differences and directly impact patient health and wellness.


 

  1. Financial Management 
  • Budget Oversight: Utilize your clinical knowledge to support the Chief Operations Officer in developing and managing the programmatic budget, ensuring the efficient allocation of financial resources to maximize the quality and scope of clinical services.
  • Grant Management: Work closely with the Quality Manager to oversee performance tracking and reporting for assigned grants and contracts, using your clinical experience to ensure that funding supports patient-centric healthcare initiatives.

 

  1. Team Management
  • Clinical Excellence Oversight: Work closely with Medical Directors to ensure the delivery of culturally aligned, high-quality clinical care. Ensure that clinical protocols and best practices respect the cultural diversity of the patient population.
  • Personnel Management: Lead the Clinical Department, focusing on personnel selection and staffing decisions that promote cultural alignment, ensuring that the team reflects the diverse backgrounds of Vecinos patients. Provide guidance to your team, emphasizing the importance of culturally aligned, high-quality care.
  • Performance Evaluation: Monitor and evaluate team performance using established clinical performance metrics, ensuring that the patient-centered mission is upheld.
  • Direct Clinical Services: Step in to provide direct medical and clinical services as needed, utilizing your clinical expertise to deliver top-quality care.


 

Required Qualifications

  • Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree or higher in healthcare, public health, or a related field is required.
  • Professional Experience: A minimum of five years of experience in a healthcare setting, demonstrating expertise in healthcare operations.
  • Management Skills: At least two years of experience in team management, showcasing leadership abilities and teamwork skills.
  • Cultural Sensitivity and Language Skills: Proficiency in Spanish, along with cultural sensitivity, to effectively communicate and provide care to diverse populations, particularly those who are uninsured or underserved.


 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Educational Background and Licensure: A Master's degree in healthcare administration, social work, public health, public policy, business administration, or a related field. A Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of North Carolina with the maintenance of appropriate certifications are also desirable.
  • Cultural and Linguistic Competence: Native or near-native fluency in both English and Spanish, enabling effective communication with a diverse patient population.
  • Direct Experience: Proven experience working with under and uninsured populations, demonstrating a strong understanding of their unique healthcare needs and challenges.
