Supply Chain Intern – Summer 2024 – Atlanta, GA or Various Locations
Summary:
The Supply Chain Intern will ensure data accuracy in critical systems and key metric reporting, complete complex analysis with clarity and precision, and influence others to drive excellence in service to all customers at the lowest network cost to serve. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, consistent, quick learner, critical thinker, and able to complete advanced high-quality analysis with tight deadlines. The individual should be experienced in using data to influence and motivate others.
The Supply Chain Intern may be placed in one of the following areas: Supply Chain Analytics, Operational Excellence, Logistics or Procurement.
Responsibilities:
Analytics Focus:
- Responsible for the development and management of business metrics
- Responsible for developing and producing reporting for multiple teams across the business
- Manage system forecasting processes and inventory policy
- Facilitate discussion to drive supply chain excellence through data analysis
- Lead and participate in cross-functional continuous improvement projects for process improvement, service and on time delivery improvement, and cost reduction
- Complete on demand data mining and complex ad hoc analysis concerning inventory management, order management, operations, metrics, and budgets while managing standard role responsibilities
- Document Standard Operating Procedures and update as needed
- Understand business/division objectives and execute work with alignment
Logistics Focus:
- Data consolidation of all transportation related data for WestRock
- Daily/Weekly/Monthly Operational and Financial reporting
- Identification and tracking of cost savings initiatives
- Constant focus on leveraging data to identify project opportunities
- Responsible for Project Management
- Support all Logistics teams with data collection and analysis
- Partner with Logistics teams to generate information needed to establish performance metrics for operations execution and performance reviews
Operational Excellence Focus:
- Assisting Black Belts with belt coaching and project work
- Leading continuous improvement projects
- Supporting/performing gap analysis on current state vs ideal state across all Supply Chain departments
- Working to develop process maps and learn/utilize Lean Six Sigma tools
- Developing/enhancing relevant metrics
- Providing data analysis when necessary
- Assisting with cross divisional initiatives
- Identifying opportunities to improve business and operational processes while maximizing Productivity impact
Procurement Focus:
- Work as a member of the Procurement team by conducting analyses on spend data, contract histories, and analyzing data for bidding and sourcing initiatives
- Design and assist with RF(x) templates and events, utilizing an e-sourcing tool and coordinate the communication and supplier responses
- Data mining and cleansing
- Build relationships with category managers and facilitate frequent communication related to sourcing initiatives, data analysis and implementation
- Provide a critical level of support on general and special projects, financial analyses, problem resolution and other business/ analysis related needs that affect Procurement
- Ability to read proposed contract terms and extract information
- Clearly articulate their understanding of each project and results of analysis to a variety of business leaders and decision makers
- Support various on-going projects that may include project leadership, detailed analysis, benchmarking, process mapping, organizational redesign, and business case development
- Support a global perspective for all supply chain related functions
- Actively engage in supply chain related projects and utilizing academic knowledge
- Present project results to the Executive Management Team
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in progress with emphasis in one of the following: Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Operations Management
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Must possess superior communication skills and the ability to converse with multiple levels in the organization
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel
- Project management experience
