User Interaction Intern (Remote, Hybrid options)
Are you interested in solving hard problems? Do you enjoy engineering projects that are more math-intensive? Are passionate about 3D modeling, graphics, and collaborating with multiple engineering teams?
You will work with large code bases and modern graphics pipelines. You will use your math prowess to write algorithms that process, interact with, and visualize 3D objects in Vectorworks. Your contributions will be visible to all users, leaving a lasting mark on our software.
The user interaction team works on anything the user interacts with on the screen when designing in of our four Computer Aided Design applications. This team creates the click point base functionality of objects. This is one of the more math-intensive groups in R&D!
During this internship, you will:
- Develop and test code to support one of the world's best-selling cross-platform CAD applications.
- Dive into 3D geometry, algorithms, and computational math.
- Work on the imaging and computational aspects of the software.
Here is what success looks like:
- Proficiency in C++.
- Exceptional math skills.
- Graphics knowledge, including matrix and vector manipulation.
- Familiarity with multithreading.
- Exposure to OpenGL, DirectX, Vulcan, Metal and/or rendering techniques (shaders, transformations).
- Understanding of platform-based UI (MFC and Cocoa) is a plus, but not required.
2024 Internship session:
Spring: January 16 - May 10
Summer: June 10 - Aug. 16
Fall: Sept. 16 - Dec 6
The ultimate goal of our internship program is to provide students with a learning and training experience that will allow them the opportunity to apply the skills learned in the classroom in a professional work environment. Although, we would like to offer interns the opportunity to join our workforce on a full-time basis, an offer for a full-time position after an internship is not guaranteed.
Eligibility requirements for internships:
- Spring & Fall internships require 16-20 hours of work per week. Summer is 40 hours per week.
- You must be at least 18 years of age, enrolled in an undergraduate program in your Sophomore, Junior or Senior year.
- This is a paid internship and compensation will be based on applicant's qualifications. We currently do not provide housing, relocation, or transportation reimbursement.
- Interns are not eligible for company benefits.
