Accounting Intern- Summer 2024

Summary 

Stifel’s Corporate Accounting Department plays a vital role within the organization, overseeing critical financial functions and ensuring accurate and compliant financial reporting. As an intern in Stifel’s Corporate Accounting Department, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience, develop practical accounting skills, and contribute to the overall financial well-being of the organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops an understanding of regulatory reporting and corporate accounting processes, such as intercompany accounting, accounts receivable, accounts payable, or corporate treasury.
  • Gathers corporate financial data, performs checks and balances, and maintains records of assets, liabilities, and profit and loss.
  • Processes paperwork, fills applications, files reports, and prepares journal entry support, basic calculations, and reconciliations.
  • Document policies and procedures surrounding work performed in accordance with SEC and FINRA regulations.
  • Creates and maintains electronic records using various systems according to department policy and procedure.

Qualifications

  • Possess strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated track record of achievement in academics and extracurricular activities.
  • Ability to understand and operate within systems, processes, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, financial data, concepts, and associated terminology.
  • Adaptable and flexible to changes within the accounting processes, procedures and systems with the cooperation of others.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word.

Education and/or Experience

  • Pursuing an undergraduate degree in Accounting or a related field with at least 1 year of college completed.
  • Strong interest in Accounting and a desire to develop skills in the field.

Systems and Technology

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook.

Additional Information

Stifel’s Headquarter Internship Program will be 10 weeks in person at our downtown St. Louis location.

Program dates: May 28 to August 2, 2024
