Get to know the business

Our corporate finance professionals play an essential role in maintaining a healthy balance sheet at AIG. They deliver significant finance support for the overall enterprise, optimizing operations, funding, and capital structure to honor our commitments to our stakeholders. They inform the decisions of AIG executives and comply with regulatory requirements, maintaining financial discipline, transparency, and controls, while providing timely and meaningful information.

 

The Finance function consists of a variety of teams with an array of responsibilities, including FP&A, Controllership, Tax, Accounting, Operations, Data Management, Treasury, and Sourcing and Procurement. 

 

About the role

AIG’s summer interns are immersed in the day-to-day operations of a fast-moving, global insurance company. You will gain valuable, hands-on experience and insurance industry knowledge during the 10-week program. As a summer intern, you will work with industry leaders on dynamic projects, with ample opportunity for challenges, learning, and achievement.

 

After initial orientation and training, summer interns will join one of our business lines, which offers a unique opportunity to obtain core technical knowledge and professional skills in a diverse and global environment. In addition to the experience acquired on the job, summer interns have the opportunity to hear directly from senior management and participate in webinars, discussion forums, and networking receptions.

 

Upon finishing the internship, you may be considered for a full-time analyst role beginning in the summer of 2025.

 

What we’re looking for:

AIG seeks candidates who have excelled in previous work experience, demonstrated outstanding academic and extracurricular achievement, possess strong analytical, quantitative, and interpersonal skills, and are enthusiastic about and committed to the insurance industry. 

 

We also look for diverse experiences, cultures, and thought backgrounds. Successful candidates typically have a global perspective and a team-oriented track record.

 

Preferred:

•     One or more years of classroom and/or finance internship experience

•     Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

•     Demonstrated analytical, quantitative, communication and interpersonal skills

•     Overall understanding of fundamental finance and possess accounting acumen

•     Organized, resourceful and capable of working with ambiguity

•     Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multiple stakeholders

•     Have an attention to detail and accuracy

•     Committed to learning new skills and open to work within different areas of Finance

 

Example Finance responsibilities may include:

Provide key reporting and analytics support, review business performance, drive planning and forecasting efforts, and build operating budgets

Perform controllership activities that deliver required AIG consolidated financial reporting, provide tax advisory, planning, accounting, compliance, and analytics for all types of taxes

Improve financial management systems and information, contribute to process improvement or savings initiatives, and participate in finance projects

Develop and update reports on capital, forecast, cash flows, funding and liquidity, review business metrics and perform competitive intelligence 

 

Required:

Bachelor’s degree to be received no later than June 2025 (unofficial transcript required upon application)

Our 2024 Summer Internship Program will run from June 3rd, 2024 – August 9th, 2024

Locations
Early Career Summer Intern positions are in-person opportunities and are available Knoxville, TN, Wilton, CT and New York, NY. When we work in the office, we experience greater connections with opportunities to collaborate, innovate, and learn together.
 

For applicants in Colorado, Jersey City, and New York City the hourly pay range for this position is $20.00 - $31.97
