Performance Analyst Intern

What will you be doing? 

 

The Ohio Performance Team at the Ohio Auditor of State offers a chance to make a difference in how government operates. Our staff come from a variety of professional backgrounds. Our team is highly collaborative, manner with innovative and supportive colleagues. Generally, the Ohio Performance Team independently reviews state agencies, school districts, and local governments to identify solutions that improve government services for Ohioans. As an intern, you would support reviews of a variety of government agencies, programs, and policies that make recommendations to improve government programs and at the forefront of public policy. Our interns gain broad exposure to policymakers and executives throughout state and local government to in our work to evaluate whether if policies, processes, and functions are effective, efficient, economical, or ethical.

What we’re looking for: 

 

Must attend an accredited College or University and be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program. Students pursuing a degree in business or political science, or a MBA or MPA are preferred. Applicant must have a valid Ohio driver’s license, must be a U.S. citizen or Permanent Resident, and will undergo a pre-employment background check.

 

Knowledge of: Analytical techniques; Ohio government structure; process design; project management and Lean Six Sigma. 

 

Skill in: Problem solving and critical thinking; research and data/information synthesis capabilities; distilling and synthesizing complex concepts clearly and concisely; performing in a collaborative team atmosphere; working in a project-based environment meeting deadlines; desktop applications – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, etc.); listening effectively; verbal, presentation, and written communication. 

 

Ability to: Apply flexibility and agility to adapt to changing work priorities and circumstances; deal successfully with ambiguity; act with integrity and accountability; demonstrate inquisitiveness with strong willingness to learn; be customer focused, even in difficult circumstances; set priorities and apply self and time management skills to meet priorities; prepare meaningful, concise & accurate reports; gather, collate, & classify information; handle sensitive inquiries from & contacts with officials & general public; work alone on tasks.
