Program Support Assistant

VA - Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) is one of the largest integrated health care systems in the Department of Veterans Affairs and includes facilities in Murfreesboro and Nashville. 20 Community-Based Outpatient Clinics are located in Kentucky and Tennessee. ***This entry level position is in a field with a career ladder that leads directly to the Executive Leadership level within the VA Healthcare system.  Motivated, energetic candidates willing to learn and grow can progress regularly to positions of greater responsibility and pay.***

Major duties include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinates and provides primary administrative support to the Chief Supply Chain Officer, two Assistant Chief Supply Chain Officers, multiple middle managers and staff of assigned facility;
  • Schedules and manages appointments for all managers with Supply Chain Management;
  • Receives visitors and phone calls both for the service and the service Chief;
  • Composes and prepares correspondence, forms, letters, memos, reports, computer-related data, specifications, and similar material;
  • Coordinates meetings by scheduling time, place, equipment, and notifying participants;
  • Prepares agendas, facilitates meetings and composes and distributes meeting minutes;
  • Maintains office supplies and equipment;
  • Monitor time and attendance records for all full time employees in these areas at assigned facility/system as well as any Compensated Work Therapy (CWT) or employees on a work program;
  • Receives and reviews all incoming correspondence and action documents and follows up to ensure timely reply or action.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30AM-4:00PM

Telework: Ad-hoc - VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. This position may be authorized for telework. Telework eligibility will be discussed during the interview process.
Virtual: This is not a virtual position. The selected candidate must report to the duty location on a daily basis.
