SOCIAL MEDIA / PRODUCTION INTERNSHIP

Make Plays Media (MPM) is seeking Social Media and Production interns for Spring 2024.

 

Do you like baseball?  Would you like to work with professional athletes and learn from an experienced media team that will help you secure a job upon graduation?

 

Through its flagship show, Foul Territory, MPM is building a premier baseball digital media vertical centered around authentic player voices. Former MLB players AJ Pierzynski, Todd Frazier, Adam Jones, Erik Kratz, Lorenzo Cain, Brock Holt and Jason Kipnis host a live, on-camera, 2-hour digital baseball show, Monday through Friday, via YouTube, TikTok, Twitter and the Watch Stadium app with the audio version available on Apple, Spotify and other podcast platforms.

 

MPM also produces two additional shows;

  • Fair Territory with Ken Rosenthal, giving baseball's preeminent baseball reporter and 2-time Sports Emmy Award winner a weekly platform to share his insights on the game.
  • Legends Territory, in partnership with the MLB Players Alumni Association.  Each week, we have a conversation with a former big league baseball player, discussing the biggest moments in their career and hearing behind the scenes stories that have often been untold.

 

MPM is offering unpaid internships to highly motivated and committed candidates wishing to build their resume with practical professional experience while learning from a veteran team with decades of network television, digital and social media experience. Our interns will have the opportunity to directly impact the success of Make Plays Media.     

 

Like most of our company, this position is fully remote, unless you are in the Orlando, Florida or central New Jersey areas.  While the internship is unpaid, we are happy to meet school requirements for academic credit.

 

The ideal candidates will work collaboratively with a group of social and production specialists to distribute content across assigned accounts on platforms such as YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and Facebook. An ideal candidate is a casual or passionate baseball fan who can perform in a fast-paced environment creating engaging social content, assist on successful cross-platform projects, and the ability to adapt to all social platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, create and ideate optimized social content across social and digital accounts to expand reach, engagement, and growth of our brands
  • Create social posts for journalistic accuracy, audience relevance, and tone, including real-time decision-making at various stages of content development
  • Participate with teams internally and externally in the creation and distribution of content that best activates new audiences.  
  • Contribute as an active part of the production team to determine best content amplification strategy
  • Pitch creative ideas for projects and unique executions
  • Edit video and graphic assets via Adobe Premiere for production elements
  • Research interview subjects, including on-field performance, social media activity, and biographical information
  • Effectively manage production timelines to ensure timely delivery on projects
  • Assist with both digital asset workflow and creation of HTML centric web pages.

 

Qualifications:

  • A minimum 10 hours of availability per week
  • Non-linear editing skills (Adobe Premiere, Photoshop, After Effects, etc.) 
  • Active understanding of the latest in social media trends, popular sports podcasts and core characteristics of engaging content
  • Excellent news judgment and verbal/written communication with headline writing skills with an understanding of optimal tactics for social distribution.
  • Proficient in Google Workspace
  • Ability to operate and juggle multiple varied tasks during a typical work day
  • Knowledge of baseball, including teams, players, and storylines with a passion for the industry
