Are you interested in developing your Quality Improvement (QI) skills to impact the lives of others? If so, the Quality Improvement Fellowship Training Program at Cincinnati Children's may be just what you're looking for.
Objective:
The Quality Improvement Fellowship Training Program is a one-year program designed to develop Quality Improvement Specialists and increase diversity of the workforce in the Anderson Center.
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center Description:
Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center is nationally recognized as a leader in pediatric healthcare, with a reputation for excellence in patient care, research and medical education. We offer comprehensive clinical services, from treatments for rare and complex conditions to well-child care. In the 2023-24 U.S. News & World Report survey of best children’s hospitals, we ranked No. 1 among all Honor Roll hospitals. For the third consecutive year, Forbes recognized our hospital as a “Best Employer for Diversity” on its 2020 annual list. For the ninth time, the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) has named Cincinnati Children's a top performer in its 2022 Healthcare Equality Index (HEI).
In 2010, The James M. Anderson Center for Health Systems Excellence was established to dramatically expand our hospital's work in transformational improvement. We have long been committed to providing the best outcomes and safest care for the children and families we serve and are applying all that we learn through research to our own frontline work. Ultimately, our success is defined by nothing less than being a catalyst for transformation on a global scale.
Program Description:
The program focuses on developing Quality Improvement skills needed for executing individual and multi-level network improvement projects, including technical (applying tools and methods), change management and leadership development skills. Anderson Center coaches include world-renowned faculty in Quality Improvement and child health, Senior Quality Improvement Specialists and experts in statistical process control and data management.
Quality Improvement Fellows (QI Fellows) will complete training in Quality Improvement methods (e.g., The Model for Improvement and Lean), Learning Health Systems and participate in Anderson Center project reviews. In addition, opportunities to participate in training with the Cincinnati Children’s Administrative Fellows (primarily managed through the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and Human Resources) will be provided throughout the year.
A major part of the program involves experiential- or project-based learning. QI Fellows will have the opportunity to collaborate with and/or lead a team to execute on high-impact nationwide improvement projects. Through involvement in multiple projects during their fellowship, fellows will gain a perspective from various areas/points of view. Beyond the functional skills of the projects themselves, the work will create opportunities for leadership development.
