Position Summary

The Front desk/ Testing Assistant position works closely with the Testing Proctor and the Front Desk Program Coordinator to provide test proctoring and the reader/ scribe accommodation to students and support front desk tasks. These roles work to directly fulfill the accommodations for students and coordinate their fulfillment.

The Disability Resource Center provides disability accommodations to disabled students according federal and state law. This ensures that disabled students have equal access to all of the services and benefits of education at Bellevue College. The Disability Resource Center reports to the Dean of Student Support in the Student Affairs division.

The program serves as a reference for Bellevue College faculty and staff, offering information and training in disability, disability justice related issues, and promoting inclusion in academics, the workplace, and in the community.

Pay, Benefits & Work Schedule

Position Salary Range: $37,872/year - $50,076/year

The salary will be determined based on candidate's qualifications and related experience. Individuals newly hired to Classified position are placed in a salary range based on the WPEA Collective Bargaining Agreement.

About the Department

The Disability Resource Center (DRC) is dedicated to service excellence in the provision of comprehensive and flexible accommodation plans which contribute to the successful academic endeavors of qualified students who have disabilities. The DRC works in innovative ways to provide teaching and learning opportunities to college employees and community partners which further the understanding and success of the students we serve. The DRC nurtures and coaches its students in skills necessary to achieve success academically and in promoting essential life skills which will integrate students who have disabilities into the overall pluralistic fabric of the community.

Essential Functions

Test Proctoring

• Set up exams upon student arrival
• Use MyDRC database testing features to confirm faculty test instructions, ensure accommodations are met, and schedule exams
• Proctor exams utilizing camera software, ensure test integrity, report academic dishonesty to faculty and conduct manager.
• Assist students with exam questions and needs
• Update Testing computers, check for ITS needs
• Collect completed exams, return exams per specific faculty instructions

Front Desk Support

• Coverage of Front desk: greeting students and faculty, answering phones, answering emails
• Assist students arriving for exams
• Assist students with Access Forms, Test Scheduling, Scheduling with Access Specialists
• Data entry for accommodation usage and scheduling assistance in MyDRC and Excel
• Monitor snack drawer levels and usage
• Assist students using study rooms and support Navigators programs' Peer mentors

Reading/ Scribing

• Read exam to students with testing reader accommodation
• Scribe (write) for students with scribe accommodation on exams
• Scribe for students in classroom (take detailed notes on lecture, scribe any in-class work)
• Maintain test integrity, report academic dishonesty to faculty and conduct manager

Assist Accommodations Coordinator and Front Desk Assistant

• Assist with note taking, furniture, and Alternative Format accommodations work
• Perform other Duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma. Any combination of relevant education and/or experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
• Minimum one (1) year of experience in an office or retail setting
• Minimum one (1) year of professional experience with software programs Microsoft Suite and Adobe Acrobat
• Effective customer service skills
• Effective ability to prioritize competing tasks
• Effective reading and writing skills
• Demonstrated experience working with diverse colleagues and/or students in a collaborative and inclusive environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree
• One (1) year of experience working with disabled customers and/or students
• Effective understanding of math and science books at the college level
