AmeriCorps NCCC Forest Corps 2024 Team Leader Position

Forest Corps is a program partnership between AmeriCorps NCCC (National Civilian Community Corps) and United States Forest Service (USFS). Forest Corps will provide you with hands on wildland fire prevention and restoration experience while you lead a team of 18–26-year-olds, earn money for college, travel, and help communities. The AmeriCorps NCCC mission is to strengthen communities and develop leaders through team-based national and community service.
Training for the 2024 Forest Corps will be held at the Pacific Region campus in Sacramento, CA.
Here is what you can expect during your service:
- Serve full-time for 11 months (1 month leadership training, 10 months leading a team)
- You will lead a team through service projects in the areas of wildfire risk mitigation, reforestation, environmental conservation, and resource management.
- Your team could engage in hazardous fuels reduction, protecting threatened habitats, conducting prescribed burn, wildlife surveys, infrastructure or trail maintenance, or providing nursery services to support growing seedlings, so adaptability is key!
- As a Team Leader, you will be crucial to your team’s success. You’ll be responsible for directing, motivating, and mentoring a diverse team of young people.
- USFS and NCCC staff will look to you for coordination of project logistics.
- Gain invaluable supervisory experience, challenge yourself, and get a foot in the door to work in environmental conservation as a career.
