Communications Intern - Blog Writer

We are seeking a full-time Communications Intern - Blog Writer in our Olathe, KS location. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting the Content Marketing Manager with the Garmin Blog, which will be a hands-on learning experience similar to that of a newsroom complete with writing, editing and other clerical duties.

Essential Functions

• Complete story assignments in the five Garmin business segments
• Update older blog content as assigned, including link refreshes and working with Product Marketing Managers to maintain accuracy
• Use WordPress to assist in building and publishing blog posts on Garmin.com
• Assist Content Marketing Manager as other needs arise

Basic Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related major
• Demonstrates exceptional writing skills and knowledge of Associated Press style guidelines
• Possesses a portfolio of strong writing samples (please submit with your application)
• Demonstrates strong and effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
• Proficiency in word processing and database programs

Desired Qualifications

• Experience in a newsroom or similar collaborative environment, whether at a professional media outlet, school media outlet or similar
