Internship Program Overview:

Communications Intern Description:

During this internship on the Communications team, you will learn how to lead and support corporate communications projects and initiatives for a global publicly traded organization. You will assist in the development and execution of communication plans and strategies that drive employee behaviors for assigned functions and support Lamb Weston’s corporate reputation and company goals. A skilled mentor with be assigned to the intern for the duration of the internship that will provide training and complete periodic reviews to assess progress and answer questions.

Duties and responsibilities for a Communications Intern depend on active priorities and programs as well as an intern’s current experience and interests. Duties that may be assigned include:

  • Consulting with stakeholders from across the company on initiatives to recommend communication strategies and tactics that support company goals
  • Assisting with development, writing and editing of communication materials using a variety of tactics (written, video, presentation, town halls, small group meetings, etc.) to articulate key messages
  • Ensure communication messaging materials are high-quality, accurate, appropriate and integrated with business priorities and themes
  • Assist with Lamb Weston’s social media channels and intranet and internal news process, leveraging the company website, LinkedIn, Facebook, enterprise social network and mobile capabilities, use other technologies as appropriate to maximize the company’s communication effectiveness
  • Play a role in organizing and managing communications events for a global employee audience
  • Understand the audience as appropriate, and apply insights to messages and tactics
  • Ensure consistent messaging, branding, imagery and corporate identity

 

Basic and Preferred Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled or a recent graduate of a program related to Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related degree
  • Juniors, Seniors, or Master’s degree students preferred but also accepting recent grads
  • Minimum GPA 3.0 preferred
  • Experience working with the media is a plus
  • Strategic orientation and the desire and ability to define and guide communication strategy
  • Excellent verbal, written and oral communication skills
