We are currently seeking a full-time Staff Engineer to join our Environmental team in our Greenville or Spartanburg, South Carolina office.


 

Job Snapshot:

As an Environmental Staff Engineer, you will have a strong understanding of the natural resources realm including streams and wetlands, the 404/401 permitting process, strong protected species knowledge, and navigating regulatory processes through the equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrating a desire to be on top of industry trends and technology developments to help design and develop a variety of deliverables that meet the needs of our clients. The Environmental Staff Engineer must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, and possess the ability to work as a team player.

This position will include a mix of both field and office work associated with natural resource assessments and environmental evaluations.

  • Field work may include stream and wetland delineation and mapping, protected species habitat assessments, potential installation of monitoring wells; identification of the soils encountered and determination of well construction; soil, groundwater, and soil gas sampling for chemical analysis; and other testing and sampling as may be required
  • Office tasks will include the preparation of data tables; graphical presentation of data; GIS mapping, comparison of soil and groundwater data to State regulatory standards; and report preparation


 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Biological or Environmental Sciences, Environmental Engineering, or equivalent from an accredited school
  • Ability to complete fieldwork and perform data collection
  • Excellent computer skills and well-organized
  • Ability to organize and handle multiple project tasks


 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a closely related field
  • Experience with wetland delineations, Section 401/404 permitting process, protected species surveys, and ecological surveys preferred (willing to train the right candidate)
  • Experience managing projects or tasks
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS), Engineer in training (EIT) or Geologist in Training (GIT), or on track to obtain
  • Professional registration, or ability to obtain in the future
  • GIS experience
