Energy and Sustainability Intern

As an energy and sustainability intern you will support initiatives related to energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainable practices within our organization. Here's a breakdown of what their responsibilities might involve:

Data Collection and Analysis:Assist in gathering and analyzing data related to energy consumption, waste management, or environmental impact to identify areas for improvement.

Sustainability Projects:Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives, such as recycling programs, energy-efficient practices, or renewable energy projects.

Research and Reporting:Conduct research on sustainable technologies, best practices, and regulatory requirements. Compile findings into reports or presentations for internal use or public dissemination.

Assessment and Auditing:Assist in conducting energy audits or sustainability assessments of buildings, processes, or systems to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions.

Collaboration and Outreach:Work with various departments or stakeholders to promote sustainability initiatives and raise awareness within the organization. Engage in community outreach or educational programs related to sustainability.

Policy and Compliance:Stay updated on environmental regulations and standards. Support efforts to ensure compliance with relevant laws and certifications (e.g., LEED certification).

Monitoring and Evaluation:Help establish monitoring systems to track energy usage, carbon footprint, or waste generation, and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of implemented sustainability measures.

Project Management Support:Assist in coordinating sustainability projects, including scheduling, resource allocation, and documentation.

Technology and Innovation:Explore and assess emerging technologies or practices in renewable energy, energy efficiency, or sustainable development that could benefit the organization.

Learning and Development:Participate in training sessions or workshops to enhance knowledge of sustainable practices and energy management principles.

On-site Supervision and Support

Our internships include 24/7 on-site staff to support students working and living abroad. All students will also report to a supervisor at their internship site. Supervisors provide and oversee daily tasks, introduce the intern to team members, and mentor the intern in organizational agility, skill acquisition, and career readiness. Interns complete a midpoint and final evaluation, and supervisors complete a final evaluation of their interns. All work responsibilities and projects are approved in advance. 
 

Academic Credit

Students on an internship have the opportunity to enroll in their home university for credit, or enroll in a course through API to transfer back to their university for credit. Email support-internships@apiexperience.com for more information and a syllabus.
