We are looking for an experienced and passionate Pharmacist to join our team! As a Pharmacist, you will be responsible for providing excellent patient care and ensuring that all medications and prescriptions are accurately filled. You will have the opportunity to develop relationships with patients, while assisting in the development of medication management plans and providing health education to the public. You will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records, managing inventory, and ensuring that all regulatory standards are met. The Staff Pharmacist reviews physician orders for drug therapy and monitors this therapy for drug choice, dosage, drug interactions, adverse drug reactions, and formulary adherence.  Serves as a drug information resource to nurses, physicians, and other healthcare workers.  Properly dispenses all medications, counsels patients on proper use of medications, adverse events, etc. when required.  Performs other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Reviews physician orders for drug therapy and monitors this therapy for drug choice, dosage, drug reactions, and formulary adherence. 

Providing in-service education to physicians, nurses, pharmacy technicians, and other practitioners on medication therapy issues

Managing the use of investigational drug products according to established protocols and the organized health system settings policies and procedures

Participating in the established process for assessing, managing, and reporting of medication errors, adverse drug reactions and drug recalls

Working to maintain and developing cooperative relationships with nursing and other departments and serving as a drug information resource

Supervising the preparation and dispensing of all IV preparations as well as chemotherapy preparations

Upholding federal and state laws in the handling of all drugs and controlled substances; supervising and overseeing that  these laws and hospital rules are adhered to by other professional staff members within the hospital

Participating in the established process for assessing, managing and reporting of medication errors, adverse drug reactions and drug recalls

Using effective patient education techniques to provide counseling to patients ad caregivers, including information on medication therapy, adverse effects, compliance, appropriate use, handling, and medication administration

Determining the presence of medication therapy problems in patient’s current therapy such as:  no indication, inappropriate dose, dosage form, duration, schedule, route of administration, method of administration, duplication, allergies, interactions, etc.

QUALIFICATIONS:  

Education:      B.S. in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy

Experience:     Prefer one year of hospital experience

License/Registration:  Current licensure in the state of North Carolina

Other:                Must have highly effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills with patients, visitors, and other healthcare team members to establish working relationship that foster optimal quality of patient care.

TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:  Range of motion within functional limits.  Constant walking, standing, near vision to normal range.  Occasional work with arms overhead standing, work bent over standing/stooping, use of both hands together, far vision to normal range.  Frequent deviation from neutral position of wrist (opening bottles).  Frequent use of either hand, visual color discrimination, visual depth perception, functional vision and hearing.  Occasional pushing 20#, pulling 15#, lifting 3# to 78" height from 8" from floor.  Frequent manual/finger dexterity.  Occasional use of stepstool depending upon height of teammate.
