TSMC Arizona is looking for a Failure Analysis Engineer to join our 5-nanometer fab, located in sunny Phoenix, Arizona. TSMC Arizona’s Quality & Reliability organization is responsible for incoming materials and final product quality, process and product qualification and failure analysis.

 

Job Description:

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Working in a lab and performing various types of materials or failure analysis to support a semiconductor factory.
  • Interfacing with customers and stakeholders from across the factory. This will involve interpreting customer requests and aligning on the best approach, executing WIP in the lab, drawing conclusions from data and communication of the results. Frequent presence in customer meetings/task forces will be required to aid complex and detailed interpretation of results.
  • Assisting technicians to resolve issues with Dual-Beam FIB, SEM & TEM.
  • Chemical handling wearing PPE may occasionally be required.
  • Developing analytical methods.
  • Supporting Fab manufacturing operations and being part of our teams’ on-call schedule.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Master’s or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field (Materials Science and Engineering, Physics, Electrical Engineering etc).
  • Experience in TEM sample preparation for semiconductor devices is preferred.
  • TEM analysis experience/skill including HR-STEM imaging and EDS analysis is preferred.
  • Able to work independently and prioritize your tasks on-hand to meet deadlines.
  • Must be a team player and have a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
  • Be able to handle pressure in a fast-paced working environment.
  • Be able to support lab issues outside of regular working hours is required.
  • Will occasionally be required to work in a clean room environment (Near-line FIB/TEM).
  • Basic PC skills (MS Windows OS and MS Office) are required.
