Job Purpose
In this role, the GME Intern will be primarily responsible for performing day-to-day Advanced Manufacturing support and assisting engineers in related process development, Equipment / process specifications, Process Mapping, and problem resolutions and APQP guidelines.
The GME Intern will support the global manufacturing development team at BorgWarner by providing technical design analysis, cost trade off studies, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, design reviews, and customer presentations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the mechanical design reviews for new product / processes, to ensure the designs are manufacturable and meet our customer requirements
- Support BorgWarner global manufacturing development team with technical design analysis, cost trade off studies, PFMEAs, Process Flow Diagrams, design reviews and customer presentations
- Assist the AME Team with Machine Factory Acceptance Planning and Execution of the Factory Acceptance Test on equipment ready for buy-off
- Work with other engineering competencies, suppliers, and partners to ensure proper development, execution, documentation and verification of advanced manufacturing processes
- Assist the Proto Build team in documenting lessons learned and identifying potential production risks during early proto build stage
- Assist with environmental, safety and ergonomic evaluations & studies
What We’re Looking For
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college, university, or be a graduate from an accredited college
- GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, or B average, upon initial hire date
- Desire to work in the automotive industry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to solve problems efficiently and effectively
- Analytical, technical, and statistical skills
- Works under general supervision
- Good knowledge base of engineering theories related to manufacturing
