Department Description:

The Mass Spectrometry & Characterization group is responsible for the characterization of therapeutic proteins in clinical development using a wide array of analytical techniques, as well as particles and aggregates characterization. Our group supports the development of innovative and quality medicines for patients through cutting-edge analytical science.

Job Description:

The Mass Spectrometry & Characterization department has an internship opportunity for managing analytical data and using it to generate actionable insights. Historically, analytical data has been collected with varying degrees of FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Re-useable) attributes. A successful applicant in this position will work to wrangle and collate our legacy data sets together. The applicant will also be expected to work with scientists to develop user-oriented dashboards in data analytics software. This position will help the group understand, interpret, and visualize analytical data while working at the interface of analytical testing, data infrastructure, and user-friendly data processing.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree program with exposure to Computer Science and Biochemistry. or related fields.
  • Must have intermediate computer science skills and basic biochemistry understanding
  • Must be able to work full-time (35-40 hours/week) throughout the duration of the assignment.
  • Must have an active student status and/or within 12 months post-graduation from a BS or MS degree program. Post-doctoral candidates are not eligible. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with data analytics software like Spotfire, PowerBI, MatLab, or advanced Excel use.
  • Experience or portfolio work of user-centric program design.
  • Familiarity with pharmaceutical industry or protein-based research.

  • While GSK embraces a flexible work environment, we do require certain positions to be onsite. Candidates who are hired for an on-site role or hybrid role, and reside outside of 50-miles from their assigned work location, are eligible for relocation stipend. This is a one-time payment to help offset housing & relocation expenses. Please refer to the position details for the requirements of each position.
