Electronic Systems Technical Specialists - Hardware (Job ID: MN224)

DUTIES:                           Investigate electronic hardware problems, understand causal mechanisms, recommend appropriate action, own problem resolution, and document results. Apply and improve electronic hardware development processes and tools including 7 step problem solving, design for EMC robustness, design for manufacturing, embedded electronic hardware development process, and technical requirements analysis to develop HIL systems. Obtain input and negotiate with electronic suppliers and deliver prototype hardware to application engineering teams. Make key decisions in the areas of hardware requirements, design, validation and test the impact unit cost, functionality, and prototype delivery. Specify components and architectures of electronic control units, and specify, design and apply electronic hardware, harnesses, and interconnections that measure and control systems. Create electrical hardware system or electronics-based design or architecture concepts through specific knowledge of electrified systems to ensure a system design that adhere to company and user expectations. Mitigate potential product failure modes during Product Failure Mode Avoidance by identifying interfaces, functions, functional requirements, interactions, control factors, and noise factors. Determine assignable causes to product problems, implement robust, data-based solutions, and work cross-functionally to identify systemic root causes in order to recommend actions to prevent problem reoccurrence.  Coordinate the development of product design verification and system validation plans to identify failure modes while managing risk and relative priority using regression tests. Evaluate analytical and experimental test results following electrical engineering principles to verify that products meet internal technical requirements and to validate that design solutions meet user needs. Develop system models, integrate models to a real-time machine, and operate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) systems through use of HIL-specific tools and specialized knowledge. Produce recommendations with technical documentation to support product decisions. Utilize knowledge with circuit design simulation to analyze the design functionality before the design is implemented in a Printed Circuit Board.

REQUIREMENTS:              Positions require a Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronic or Systems Engineering, or related field and 3 years of experience as an Electrical, Controls, Design or Systems Engineer, or related position. Alternatively, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Electronic or Systems Engineering, or related field and 5 years of experience as an Electrical, Controls, Design or Systems Engineer, or related position. Experience to include: Electronic hardware development processes and tools including 7 step problem solving; Technical requirements analysis; Electrical hardware system design; Product Failure Mode Avoidance; Work cross-functionally to identify systemic root causes: Product design verification and system validation; Risk Management using regression tests; Harness & Interconnect design; Circuit design simulation.
