The team you'll be part of

The AI-Accelerator Group at Nokia Bell Labs is developing state-of-the-art artificial intelligence-based solutions for a wide range of applications from using computer vision for real-time understanding of physical spaces, and natural language processing for recommender systems to building digital twins for industrial metaverses.

We are seeking highly motivated, talented, and enthusiastic students to take part in this year’s Bell Labs Summer Internship Program, ideally designed for graduate students (or exceptional undergraduates with research experience). Students will have the opportunity to learn and work with a multi-disciplinary team in a classical Bell Labs-style setting.

Education Recommendations

Currently a candidate for a Ph.D. or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field with an accredited school in the US.

You will get exposure to applying research ideas to real-world problems, experience the thrill of performing experiments under the guidance of experienced mentors, and develop solutions at a fast pace to meet your goals.

As part of our team, you will contribute towards one of the topics mentioned below:

• Vision-based modeling and reasoning solutions for physical-digital blending in noisy and demanding physical environments.
• Natural language processing-based personalized recommender systems to enhance user interaction experiences with learning platforms.

All work would be candidates for integration into larger in-use systems and therefore need to consider cost, ease of deployment, and real-time performance during the internship.

You have:

• The ability to understand and communicate key underlying ideas, concepts, and associated problems in complex research papers and system reports.
• Willingness to contribute with creative, out-of-the-box solutions, to problems arising in a dynamic environment.
• Competency in one or more general programming languages (preferably Python) and data science/ML frameworks (Pandas, Keras, TensorFlow, or PyTorch)

It would be nice if you also had:

• Knowledge of deep learning neural network architectures, ML model optimization, model drift detection, and continual learning.
• Experience in developing solutions applying computer vision or natural language processing concepts combined with machine learning to solve interesting problems.
• Familiarity with Docker-based microservices and Kubernetes.
• Expertise related to 3D model rendering and interaction using software such as three.js or equivalent.
