Position: Bell Labs Platform & ASIC Intern

The team you'll be part of

Bell Labs Core research focuses on next-gen wireless access technologies. Specifically, physical and MAC layer algorithms, as well as hardware and software implementation platforms. Maximizing data rates, while achieving cutting-edge power efficiency and flexibility. Digital compute SoCs, CPUs as well as cloud-native software mechanisms are of particular interest. Generation of intellectual property, experiments, proof-of-concepts, and high-quality publications.

Education Recommendations

A candidate for MSc or PhD degree in electrical engineering or computer science, with the interest in signal processing, machine learning, resource optimization, and their efficient realizations or a related field with an accredited school in the US.

You will be involved in cutting edge industry research targeting future 6G wireless access, working with a team of seasoned experts focusing on compute efficiencies. While gaining technical knowledge (massive number of antennas, AI applications to wireless, sensing, x86, RISC-V….), you will participate to typical technical and review meetings gaining understanding of R&D processes of Nokia and Bell Labs research. 

You have:

• Initial focus on establishing the knowledge baseline relevant to a particular problem (e.g., scalable multi-user resource allocation in massive MIMO systems to exploit multi-user diversity recognizing acceleration opportunities for HW and SW implementation).
• Algorithm proposal, numerical evaluation, and platform fine-tuning are expected, with the willingness to learn platform specifics (e.g., x86 or RISC-V core).
• If progressed, a conference or journal publication may be followed.
