Aerospace Communications Research Intern

Position: Aerospace Communications Research Intern
Duration: 10 weeks

The team you'll be part of

Within Bell Labs Solutions Research, you will be working with the team developing technologies for cellular communications for space applications.  In particular, you will be part of the team working to deploy the first LTE/4G network on the Moon. One key area is the study and modeling of ionizing radiation impacts on electronics.

 

Education Recommendations


You are currently pursuing a degree in Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or Physics with an accredited school in the U.S, preferably as PhD student. Minimum GPA 3.0.

 

You will join a team working on wireless communications solutions for space applications, researching ionizing radiation.

As part of our team, you will:

  • Work on ionizing radiation studies for wireless communications systems
  • Modeling the impact on ionizing radiation on different space deployments
  • Research means to mitigate the impact of ionizing radiation on wireless electronics

You have:

  • Strong understanding of the fundamental physics behind ionizing radiation
  • Strong understanding of methods, solutions, and applications used in the aerospace industry to mitigate ionizing radiation impacts
  • Strong analytical, modeling, and problem-solving skills

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Prior experience working in an aerospace industry
  • Prior experience working on solutions to mitigate ionizing radiation impacts on electronics
