Water Resources Engineering Associate

Job Summary: The Water Resources Engineering Associate position will work with a team of designers on storm water management design projects. Tasks will include but not be limited to hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, conveyance system design, pavement hydraulic analysis, plans production, and environmental permitting. The person will have strong communication skills and work ethic. This position performs basic engineering assignments requiring the application of standard engineering principles and concepts. This position helps perform design tasks and coordinates design and construction activities, studies, and various analyses. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Assist with the design of stormwater management facilities, control structures, roadway collection/conveyance systems, and other drainage-related infrastructure
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analysis and design for transportation and infrastructure projects
  • Assist with the preparation of design and permitting documents, including design documentation, calculations, construction plans, and permit applications
  • Perform field reviews and photo documentation of existing conditions to identify potential flooding concerns

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must possess basic knowledge of production software.
  • Must possess solid oral and written communications skills.
  • Must have the ability to effectively interact with and build relationships with others.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Microstation/Geopak/OpenRoads Designer, AutoCAD Civil 3D, HEC-RAS, HY-8, Flowmaster, ICPR, GIS or similar.
  • Certification as an Engineering Intern (EI).
  • Previous experience working on FDOT projects.
  • Experience or exposure to FDOT plans preparation and design standards.
