Social Worker Level III

Tour II- 8:30AM-4:30PM

PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Licensed Social Work Level Ill is an LCSW who is part of the ED Leads Addiction Program, a mayoral initiative. The LCSW is part of the ambulatory Substance Use Disorder (SUD) program at Kings County who is assigned to work in the emergency department and expected to provide consult services throughout the hospital during Tours 2 and 3 as part of an interdisciplinary team. The LCSW functions as a Licensed Independent Practitioner who is the primary SUD evaluator of adults presenting to the medical emergency room.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Licensed clinician with 3+ years of clinical experience, supervisory experience and knowledge of substance use disorders, mental illness and co-morbid medical conditions. Clinician should have familiarity providing assessments and interventions to individuals with history and current use of substance use. The clinician is part of an ambulatory program, primarily assigned to work in an . emergency department but expected to provide consult services throughout the hospital as needed. They are responsible for working collaboratively with other disciplines and identifying the appropriate level of care for adult patients and supervising and completing performance evaluations for licensed and nonĀ­ licensed employees. Candidate must be able to work with the severely mentally ill, substance abuse and intellectually disabled population, with knowledge of resources and services for this population. The required shift to work is alternating between Tour II and Ill shift and one day of the weekend. They must able to function as a Licensed Independent Practitioner who specializes in understanding the impact of addictions onĀ adults actively linking them to treatment.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties include, supervising direct reports, conducting initial social work assessment of patients within ambulatory and acute care settings, engaging in discussion around patterns related to use of substances and determining the most appropriate level of care to support them in their recovery. The clinician should be skilled at facilitating supportive, psychoeducational and insight-oriented psychotherapeutic interventions, providing crisis interventions to high-risk patients, engaging with and providing support to families, and engaging them as partners in recovery. Additional responsibilities include identifying and collaborating with existing support systems, facilitating community referrals as needed, collaborating with interdisciplinary treatment team to develop most appropriate case disposition, documenting all interventions within the required regulatory timeframes. The clinician will be responsible for conducting annual performance appraisals of direct reports and managing case assignments. Good writing skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment required. English proficient a must; ability to communicate in Spanish or Creole a plus.
