Systems Administrator - 3148

This position is located at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California

Essential Functions

  • Perform daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems, and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups.
  • Analyze system logs, identify potential technical issues, and resolve them in a timely manner. 
  • Research, develop and recommend technical solutions in support of software and hardware sustainment/development activities.
  • Manage system initiatives and new projects being developed or installed.
  • Write scripts to help support critical data reduction applications and streamline functionality during conversion from older to newer platforms.
  • Support Cybersecurity initiatives verifying compliance.
  • Troubleshoot, resolve errors and alarms, and provide timely escalation to system issues.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating and configuration control procedures.
  • Support process improvements.
  • Perform tasks in accordance with applicable procedures, work instructions, LISC Performance Work Statement (PWS), and the Contract Deliverable (CDRL) requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with unscheduled changing priorities and meet deadlines. 

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field; military technical training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two or more years’ experience with computers, system administrator, systems security, and networking.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook).
  • Experience working in a multi-server environment with knowledge of clustering technologies and interface connection strategies.
  • Experience working with the following: 
  1. DOS, Windows
  2. AIX
  3. Unix
  4. Linux
  5. Ultrix
  6. VAX/VMS 
  • Knowledge or understanding of networking - routing, subnets, UDP, TCP, IP and VLANS on various systems (Switches/Routers/Gateway interfaces).
  • Knowledge of meteorology or meteorological systems and familiarity with Western Range Safety systems, preferred.
  • Experience with backup software/hardware and recovery strategies to create and verify backups of data, preferred.
  • Experience with SAN technologies and various forms of removable media preferred.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

  • Security+ certification or ability to obtain certification within six months of hire date.
  • The flexibility to work non-duty hours or on weekends to support specific project or mission requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance, which includes U.S. citizenship 
  • Valid U.S. Driver’s License required.

The salary range for this role is $71,800- 92,083; however, RGNext considers several factors when extending an offer for employment, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training and preferred skills, and knowledge.
