Public Health Director

HIRING RANGE DOQ: $5,853.60 - $7,395.20 bi-weekly

JOB SUMMARY  

The Public Health Director bears ultimate responsibility for the overall operation and function of the Public Health Department, Falls Community Health (provider of primary health and dental care), and serves as the City Health Officer. 

JOB RESPONISIBILITES

  • Provide executive leadership of federally funded ambulatory health care delivery sites to ensure federal grant application submissions and full grant compliance, fiscal management, physician contract management, and submission of monthly, semiannual, and annual federal financial/operational reports.
  • Monitor health status and understand health issues facing the community. Conduct community health needs/demand assessments; determine health status needs of specific population groups; assess vital statistics data and design evidence-based programs and initiatives; and network with other agencies to address these needs.
  • Coordinate with state health officials, county and City administrators, as well as school district officials to investigate and respond to health hazards and threats; ensure interventions are implemented to protect the community from health problems and health hazards. Ensure community emergency/disaster preparedness either as the primary agency or by providing secondary support.
  • Advise the Mayor’s Office, Board of Health, and Falls Community Health Center Governing Board; advise City Council on public health matters; recommend public health policy; serve on local, county, state, and federal task force and study groups; maintain active role in professional organizations and activities.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS 

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university with major work in public health, executive leadership, or related work and eight (8) years’ progressive experience in public health and ambulatory healthcare work, some of which should be at the leadership level; or any such combination of education, experience, and training as may be acceptable to the hiring authority.

Services and programs that SFHD provides to the community include protection from environmental health hazards, health promotion, disease prevention, ensuring equitable access to primary healthcare services, public health emergency preparedness and response activities, and quality assurance for emergency medical services.
