Business Operation Intern

Job Summary 

 

The Business Operations Department is part of the Legal and Compliance team working across the organization to help develop and document program and cross-organizational policies and procedures to both increase operational effectiveness and ensure a robust audit and compliance record. 

 

This role will assist with reviewing and revising policies and procedures for a variety of economic development programs as well as general organizational policies and procedures. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  • Works to review and update policies for a variety of economic development programs to improve operational effectiveness and to ensure compliance with legal requirements. 
  • Works with departments and functions across the organizational to review and update general authority policies and procedures.  
  • Promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative, and focused work environment among division and EDA staff.  
  • Performs other duties and special projects, as assigned.

 

Required Skills and Abilities 

 

  • Knowledge of or ability to read, understand and communicate in layperson’s terms, complex legislation, processes and other documents. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing; proficient in grammar, spelling and editing; and foster communications with business professionals and EDA staff. 
  • Ability to prioritize workload, must be highly organized, detail-oriented, handle various tasks simultaneously and work independently. 
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality and deal effectively and diplomatically with business professionals and EDA staff. 
  • Demonstrates respectful behavior and promotes teamwork and communication to encourage an interactive, cooperative, collaborative and customer focused work environment among division, and EDA staff.   
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced research abilities 

 

 

Required Qualifications 

 

Education and Experience Requirements 

  • Enrollment in an accredited Law School

  • Valid driver’s license

Position Requirements 

 

  • Foreign degrees/transcripts must be evaluated by a reputable evaluation service at your own expense and must be submitted prior to a start date.  If this cannot be provided within 21 days of an offer the offer will be rescinded.
