Intern - Fraud Decision Scientist (Summer Internship)

In this Role:  

You will be a part of a crime fighting team at WEX.  This team battles fraudsters that attempt to steal from WEX and our partners.  You will partner with Special Investigators to uncover fraud rings, understand how they operate, and then implement strategies to prevent their schemes.  You will use data science to create new ways of uncovering and preventing fraud.   

You will use WEX’s data platform as the basis for your work.  Cloud-based data, Data Science Platforms, Analytics Suites, Machine Learning, and your own ingenuity to create new solutions that allow for new ways to combat fraud.

What you will be doing: 

• ​Use Snowflake, Python, and other data tools to identify fraudsters and bust their schemes to commit crimes.
• Partner with Special Investigators to apply data science techniques to Investigations that expose fraud rings.
• Contribute to WEX’s strategies to prevent financial crimes.

Must have for this role: 

• A passion for fighting crime.
• Data skills and curiosity to find patterns in data.
• Experience creating analytics that provide actionable insights.
• Experience with data transformation / data science tools such as Python or R
