DE&I Intern

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Intern

Job Description Summary

The DE&I Intern is responsible for providing support to the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Maximus Foundation teams. The successful Intern will work to support DE&I and Foundation objectives across Maximus. The Intern will help engage the DE&I and Foundation work across various business units. The Intern will maintain an effective level of business literacy about the business unit's culture and its competition, and will serve as a company champion for the employees within the department. The Intern will do research, help to analyze data, provide updates to the team site, and collaborate with and provide recommendations to the DE&I and Maximus Foundation teams and a wide variety of partners to advance our commitment to fostering a workplace culture and environment that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive where everyone can thrive.

Job Summary

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Prepare and/or maintain data collection and evaluation documents.

- Engage with teams across Maximus to ensure education, awareness, and integration of DE&I and Foundation efforts within our operations.

- Collaborate and share best practices, from outside and within the company.

- Support the DE&I and Maximus Foundation teams members in developing, formalizing and communicating plans, activities, etc.

- Support the Vice President in developing, hosting, and documenting DE&I meetings.

- Support the Vice President with research, networking, and engagement.

- Work on specific DE&I and/or Maximus Foundation projects as assigned.

 

Minimum Requirements:

- Must be a current college student or a recent college graduate; equivalent experience considered in lieu of college experience.

- Knowledge of topics (historic and contemporary) pertaining to diversity, equity, and inclusion and/or charitable giving is a plus.

- Self-starter with the ability to navigate in an ambiguous environment.

- Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.

- Skilled in standard computer applications and platforms such as Outlook and MS Office Suite, especially PowerPoint and Excel.

- Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple priorities with superior attention to detail.

- Ability to perform comfortably in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment.

- Ability to work as a team member, as well as independently.

- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time.

- Preferred fields of study: Anthropology, Cultural Studies, Education, History, Psychology, Sociology or other Social Sciences.
