Electrical Engineer

Associate Electrical Engineer

Oka Brook, IL (1-2 days onsite) 

As an Electrical Engineer, you will join the Automation Distribution team of one of the largest electric utility companies. We are looking for Electrical Engineers to deliver project diagrams supporting their distribution automation (DA) program and successfully install their DA equipment. Additionally, you will be provided free conceptual training courses for ramp-up and professional development sessions for your growth as you integrate into their organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Ensure no conflicts with existing PDs to install DA on feeder.
  • Develop high-level plans and ensure cost feasibility before proceeding with work.
  • Perform Data Maintenance on all affected feeders to produce an accurate steady-state model on CYME during System Peak load conditions.
  • Utilize the CYME model, Mapping (GIS, Operating Maps, etc.), and other technical tools to ensure electrical and construction feasibility of the DA Scheme and proposed DA Project Diagram (PD)
  • Answer questions about DA Scheme development and cost-efficiency of plan
  • Receive feedback and corrections to DA Scheme and PD
  • Return corrected PD in a timely manner.
  • Adhere to guidelines set forth in DA Training and DA PD Checklist
  • The checklist details “checks” for proper DA Scheme creation and what to review during the CYME Study Process (fuse sizing, electric feasibility, etc.)
  • Develop accurate Cost Estimates for all work.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Develop settings for 4kV,12kV, and 34kV DA schemes.
  • Analyze and document Distribution Automation events in the DA Event Log
  • Review proposed line sensor locations against program criteria.
  • Review proposed NOJA locations against program criteria.
  • Other assigned Distribution Automation Engineering duties are yet to be determined.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or similar field
  • 1+ years of electrical engineering-related experience (internship, project work, boot camps, etc.)
  • General knowledge or experience with power flows, circuitry, device communication, schematics, amps, voltage, wattage, modeling, etc.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for schematic design.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.
  • Understanding of power systems and control systems.
