Internship - Automation Testing Specialist

American National Insurance Company was founded in 1905 and is headquartered in Galveston, TX, with several locations across the US: League City, TX, Houston, TX, Springfield, MO, and Glenmont, NY. Our Internship Program is designed to provide young professionals with corporate experience that is not offered in the classroom. In addition to supporting their respective department, each intern will have the opportunity to attend professional development sessions, volunteer within the community, and attend company sponsored social events.

 

Our 2024 summer internship program begins on Monday, June 3 and ends on Friday, August 9.  Intern positions are paid hourly with a full-time schedule (Monday-Friday, 37.5 hours per week) for the entirety of the program. 

 

Internship Program Eligibility Requirements:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited institution
  • Must hold a Junior standing or higher (May 2024 grads are welcome)
  • Must possess a minimum 3.0 GPA
  • Must be able to commit 37.5 hours per week Monday-Friday
  • Must be able to work onsite in the posted location of the role

Internship Department: EA – Test Automation

Location:  Galveston, TX or Springfield, MO

What we’re looking for:

  • Pursing a degree in Computer Information Systems or Computer Science with an emphasis in Software/Web Development, Business Analyst, or Systems Analyst.
  • Exposures to programming classes, data diagramming, intro to html concepts and web development, and interest in technical writing for creating requirements for development teams.
  • Interest in web/UI development and has an interest in problem solving or creating issues in applications.
  • Possible interest in automation and performance testing and would like exposure to the overall flow of data over defined networking ports of the company.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel & Microsoft Outlook
  • Strong organization skills & attention to detail w/ high level accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

What you can expect to do in the role:

  • Assist with gathering requirements from the business and development teams to define test objectives and overall automated tests.
  • Work with our Automation Specialists and Engineers to create reports and dashboards for automated test results and test objectives across many technologies.
  • Work with the Automation Specialist to create scheduling of automated tests defined by the business and development teams.
  • Exposure to Tosca to help with analyzing the results of automated test and rescanning for expected changes to the UI.
  • Use scripting languages to execute and report on automated tests.

 

Skills you can expect to improve and/or develop:

 

  • Exposure to scripting, web development languages, and html elements.
  • Microsoft Excel/Teams/AzureDevOps
  • Tricentis: Tosca and qTest.
  • Reporting design creation that will expose results to the C-suite of officers in the company.
  • Scheduling automated tests defined by the business and development teams.
  • Professional communication, collaboration, and etiquette across cross-functional teams.
