Summer Soy Merchandising Internship

Internship Summary:

Ag Processing, Inc (AGP) is currently seeking sophomores and juniors for our Soy Merchandising Internship! Through our on-the-job training you will learn how to merchandise soybeans and soybean meal and will coordinate logistics and quality requirements to ensure that our products reach customers as contracted. You will also interact and develop relationships with customers and AGP personnel to execute and complete transactions. By the end of the internship you will have gained critical negotiation skills, key problem solving skills and a better understanding of hedging and commodity trading in the agricultural industry.

Responsibilities:

·        Purchase soybeans and sell soybean meal & pellets

·        Negotiate transactions with elevators, cooperatives and end-users

·        Coordinate logistics to ensure timely product delivery

·        Work with the AGP accounting team to ensure accurate settlements and invoicing

·        Conduct market research and compile data to gain knowledge in soy commodity   market trends

·        Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Qualifications:

·        Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in an area of study related to   business or agriculture

·        Excellent mental math skills

·        Willing to negotiate prices

·        Strong customer service skills

·        Professional phone etiquette

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills

·        Highly organized
