Automation Engineering Intern - Manitowoc, WI

Under direct supervision is responsible for participating in the Parker Engineering Intern Development program to learn the various aspects of the engineering and automation functions. Perform all duties necessary to the efficient operation of all equipment in the plant. Operate and maintain plant equipment in accordance with standard work and building procedures. Support operations in the design, build, implementation, and maintenance of custom-built equipment and processes under the direction of the Engineering department. Develop innovative and creative approaches for improvement in safety, quality, and productivity in processes and equipment.

Support plant goals with the use of PLC, HMI, or Robotic programming Skills.
Monitor and follow all safety preventative measures and practices, including 5S+ safety guidelines
Must be capable of following and meeting standard work requirements
Must be able to use computer programs to assist in recording data, making labels, printing tooling layouts, obtaining prints and specifications, printing ship-sets, etc.
Promote positive teamwork
Work safely in accordance with regulations, standards, and procedures, and in a manner that eliminates unreasonable risk to health and the environment.
Notify management of unsafe conditions or practices, unlawful activities and activities, which present unreasonable health and/or environmental risk, and report all safety and/or environmental incidents to management immediately
Be able to continue to pursue future designs that will help Parker HPD move forward in leading edge technology
Able to foster professionalism with all associates along with internal and external

Qualifications Education required:
High School diploma or GED
2. Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or advanced degree program in a related engineering field, such as: Mechanical, Industrial, or Electrical Experience:
Must have experience in PLC programming, HMI programing, or Robotic programing.
Previous internship experience preferred Preferred Skills/ Qualifications:
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
Sound decision making skills
Good math, reading and writing skills
Be able to exercise continuous mental, visual and audio attention Skills/ Competencies:
Basic computer skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and CAD systems, such as AutoCAD, ProE, etc.
Vision: Near acuity and accommodation for reading information to perform job tasks
Requires constant alertness to surroundings and product quality with attention to detail Physical Requirements:
Exert 31 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or
Exert 11 to 30 pounds of force frequently
Exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects Ability to work well in a team environment Employee must successfully complete Pre-employment screening
