NCDOT's Summer Intern Program offers college students the opportunity to intern for one or more summers across North Carolina. You will gain hands-on skills and a meaningful summer experience. Open to ALL MAJORS!  Internships run May 13 to August 2.

Internships across North Carolina

Internship locations depend on availability and location of our current construction projects, job requirements, and your interests. Be sure to indicate your location preferences when applying, and we will do our best to make a match for you! Here is a map of our Divisions to help you understand our structure.

Most of these internships are Raleigh-based, and our Construction, Maintenance, and Project Development internships are in all 14 Highway Divisions.

 

Internship Requirements

You must:

  • Be enrolled in an associates, bachelors, or masters program at an accredited college/university, and
  • Have completed 24+ semester hours, and
  • Have a GPA of 2.3+, and
  • Attach an unofficial college transcript to your application

 

Notes

  • Pay special attention to the education and work experience sections as we do NOT look at resumes.
  • You are responsible for any housing/moving expenses.
